Me and the boys flew to Illinois to see some of our old friends. It had been four years since we'd been there....WAY too long! Roy couldn't go, so it was just me and the boys. What on earth was I thinking flying with 2 kids by myself?!
we had a big layover in Chicago. The kids, amazingly, did great!
...great except trying to convince Everett it is not polite to color on the carpet!
Ethan was my big helper through the entire trip. It's as though he knew Mommy was way out of her league trying to wrangle the both of them alone.
Glad to finally reach our destination!
The boys had a blast at the hotel's indoor pool!
Our room was awesome! Microwave, fridge, and a door to close off the bedroom which made it perfect for Everett's naptime, and early bedtime.
The second day we were there, we travelled over to Danville to see our friend Jami. We met at the playground, then had lunch before heading back to the hotel for a nap.
We stopped by to take a look at our old house. It was so sad to see it unkept. Roy and I spent so much time on the landscaping and keeping the yard up....it looked pretty awful! We spent some time with our friends and neighbors Joe and Audrey.
Darla went with us to the mall, where Everett rode a carosel for the first time!
Everett feeding his teddy.
After a nap, we went to the playground.
Brotherly love...
Everett loved the wide open spaces in Illinois. He got a taste of freedom, and threw a fit when it was time to go.
Ethan fell and hurt his knee, so Aunt Darla was glad to help him to the car!
a game of spin in the swivel chair!
Our last day in Illinois, we went to Charleston for a cookout at Darla and Les' house.
Ethan thoroughly enjoyed being in the great outdoors. It was so sad saying goodbye to Darla. The flight home was tough! I commend all single parents!!! Don't know how they do it!
